Emily Duncan Vice President Culture & Diversity (Retired), Hewlett-Packard Company
|
Emily Duncan is responsible for stewardship of HP’s long-held commitment to diversity and a culture of inclusion, a key differentiator for HP in serving more than one billion customers in more than 170 countries on six continents. She leads a wide range of companywide programs and initiatives that support, drive and influence HP’s diversity philosophy, strategy, goals, customer relationships and business results. Emily and her global team work, in partnership with HP business leaders and employees across the world, to create and maintain a diverse, inclusive work environment with a focus on expanding employee engagement and involvement at all levels. Additionally, she manages HP’s Voice of the Workforce (VoW) survey and action-planning process.
Emily is recognized as a visionary catalyst for many of HP’s pioneering diversity firsts. She led the worldwide initiative that defined and published the first set of HP’s Business Reasons for Diversity and Inclusion, developed companywide diversity priorities and goals, and established a Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Committee comprised of HP senior leaders from each of HP’s businesses worldwide. She also opened the way for HP to be a leader in adding gender identity/expression to the company nondiscrimination and harassment-free policies, as well as, to be one of the first companies to offer Domestic Partner Benefits. Emily’s conviction to strengthen and renew HP’s commitment to diversity and inclusion has resulted in innovations such as diversity and inclusion eLearning for employees using “virtual classroom” expanding the company’s Work-Life policies worldwide, and developing the “best work environment” initiative that revitalized HP’s personal conduct policies and practices, including reaffirming the company’s widely regarded Open Door Policy.
Under Emily Duncan’s leadership, HP now sponsors more than 60 Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) that serve as "HP brand champions," engaging in customer-focused activities and contributing to HP’s business goals. HP’s ERGs worldwide cover many core dimensions of diversity, including women, African-American, Asian, Hispanics, people with disabilities, and gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender employees.
Emily Duncan has been working on behalf of HP people for over 20 years in a variety of HR and diversity-related leadership roles. In 2004, she was named to her current position, vice president of Culture & Diversity.

Joanne Low Dean, School of International Education & ESL City College of San Francisco
|
Joanne Low recently served on the Mayor’s Cultural Competency Task Force where she made recommendations to improve access to City services for all residents. She currently
serves as the Dean of the Chinatown/North Beach Campus of City College - San Francisco, which provides services to 6000 students, most of whom are recent immigrants.
As the Dean for the School of International Education and ESL, Ms. Low guides ESL programs which provide educational services to over 22,000 immigrant students annually throughout San Francisco.
Joanne also serves on the American Association of Community Colleges International Programs Advisory Committee.

Freada Kapor Klein Ph.D, Founder Level Playing Field Institute
|
Dr. Freada Kapor Klein is a pioneer in the field of organizational
development, human resources, and diversity consulting, as co-founder of
the first organization in the US to offer comprehensive services,
training, and consultation about sexual harassment to both the private
and public sectors in 1976. After receiving her Ph.D. (1984) in Social
Policy and Research from the Heller School, she became the first
Director of Employee Relations for Lotus Development Corporation. At
Lotus, she was responsible for employee relations, affirmative action,
management development and training, performance appraisal, and employee
complaint channels.
Klein founded her own consulting firm, Klein Associates, in 1987. The
boutique firm specializes in employee surveys, training, and consulting
on all forms of bias, harassment, and discrimination in the workplace.
Klein's consulting and training client base includes (among others) top
tier international law firms, Wall Street financial services firms, and
Silicon Valley start-ups.
Klein currently devotes the majority of her time to work in the
non-profit world. In 2001 she founded the Level Playing Field
Institute, a non-profit which promotes innovative approaches to fairness
in higher education and workplaces by removing barriers to full
participation. She is a board member of the Berkeley Diversity and
Institutional Development Fund, which seeks to promote diversity in
students, faculty, and staff at the University of California at
Berkeley, Klein's undergraduate alma mater. She is also a co-founder of
the IDEAL Scholars Fund, which invests in high-caliber, underrepresented
students at UC Berkeley by providing resources and support to maximize
their educational experiences and leadership opportunities during
college and beyond.
Klein is the author of Giving Notice: Why the Best and Brightest Are
Leaving the Workplace and How You Can Help Them Stay, appearing this
fall from Jossey-Bass. Giving Notice combines groundbreaking
quantitative research on who leaves corporate America and why, along
with stories of the day-to-day experiences of these professionals and
managers.

Elena Morado Senior Manager, Worldwide Diversity & Inclusion-Gender Diversity Advisory Board, Cisco
|
Elena Morado is focused is on co-managing the Gender Diversity Advisory Board, talent development, diversity and inclusion education and the Kids In Technology initiative for Cisco. Elena joined Cisco in April of 1996 as a HR Business Partner, where she provided advice and counsel to VPs and Directors on organizational development, performance management, employee relations and change management. During this time she has worked with a variety of organizations including Marketing, Office of Chief Technology Officer, Engineering, and Information Technology.
She has twenty years of Human Resources experience in manufacturing, information technology, engineering, sales and services environments. Over the twenty years, Elena has held various positions within the human resources field including 2 years as a recruiter, 7 years as a manager, 15+ years as a business partner/consultant/generalist and one year as a program manager. She attended the University of San Francisco – Organizational Behavior Program.

Eduardo Salaz Senior Manager, Global Diversity & Inclusion, Intuit
|
Eduardo Salaz is responsible for leading Intuit’s Global Diversity Strategy and Key Initiatives/Programs.
Prior to working for Intuit, Eduardo was Director of Human Resources for Brocade Communications Systems Inc., a global Leader in Storage Area Networking Technology. Eduardo also held Sr. Human Resources Manager positions for Silicon Graphics, Apple Computer, Pacific Gas and Electric and the General Electric Company. In addition to domestic assignments, Eduardo has been assigned organizational consulting assignments in Singapore and Ireland. He is a Board member for the Greater Bay Area Alzheimer’s Association, past president of the National Hispanic Employee Association (NHEA), and former member of the Board of Trustees for the National Hispanic University. Eduardo was also Co-Chair of the Employee Resource Group Roundtable, a corporate diversity roundtable focusing on best practice sharing for affinity groups and employee networks.
